Marian Konieczny

Monument sculpture - Marian Konieczny's specialty - has always been the most visible example here. Over the centuries and even millennia, artists performed the orders of patrons, sculpting rulers, leaders, popes, statesmen, scholars, etc. This has been the case from antiquity to the present day. The heroes of the monumental creations were very different people. Rulers and leaders had the blood of the murdered on their hands, often on a mass scale. Rented for
money, condottieri (one of them became the hero of the famous Colleoni monument) organized massacres, conquistadors took part in the extermination of entire peoples, monarchs caused cruel wars. Almost every historical figure can be accused of something ugly. Should their statues be demolished? Well, many squares and other places, not only in our old Europe, would simply be deserted. The misunderstanding is fundamental. Well, a sculpture studio is not a confessional where absolution is or is not given. It is a testimony of time and history, as Jerzy Skrobot writes, a sign that should evoke reflections of subsequent generations, and not the passion of "storms", especially if we are dealing with a work of art.

Sculpture is an object, a material concrete thing, which at the same time must act as a certain myth. As an idea, not just a boulder or piece of metal.

Marian Konieczny Foundation

The Marian Konieczny Art Institute Foundation was founded in 2017 - just before the artist's death. The founder of the foundation is his son, Filip Konieczny. The Foundation deals with museum, gallery and educational activities. It collects and shares materials about the artist's work, catalogs and certifies the authenticity of individual works by Marian Konieczny. Together with the Arsnica Artistic Association, he runs an artistic and educational project in the professor's studio under the name Salwatorskie Artistic Studio.
